Knitted Army is a collection of handcrafted furnishings created using arm-knitting and hand-knotting techniques, repurposing textile offcuts from factories into bold, tactile forms. Each piece is shaped by the maker’s body and movements, turning the act of making into a performative, personal process—one that ensures every object is unique. The project gained international attention for its visual impact and accessible technique, sparking a global DIY movement later recognized as the origin of the Arm Knitting trend. As reported by the Wall Street Journal, Knitted Army was the first spark in this now widespread craft phenomenon. Exhibited at galleries and institutions including Bensimon in Paris and the Bauhaus Archive in Berlin, the collection was shown at numerous design events across Europe between 2012 and 2013. It stands as an early exploration of sustainable making, craft as performance, and design as community activation.
